February 26, 2010 – “Kavim Kavinaam” Drama by Adilabad Devotees

Over 3300 devotees from Adilabad district of Andhra Pradesh flocked to Prasanthi Nilayam for their Parthi Yatra 2010. Swami had permitted them to stage their drama on February 26 and so by 4:00 p.m., everything was ready and the backdrop was raised. At 5:00 p.m., the veda chanting was completed and everyone waited in silence for Swami.

Bhagavan arrived at 5:30 p.m. and as He reached the centre, He saw the backdrop. He took a detour saying, "The time is up! Drama has to begin!" He moved up the central ramp onto the stage and immediately asked for the programme to begin.

A plethora of offerings were made before the presentation began. The drama entitled "Kavim Kavinaam" began with salutations to Bhagavan in the form of a dance. The dance drama was an imaginative dialogue between an assembly of famous personalities who meet in Vaikunta in the presence of Devendra Indra, the Lord of gods.

Into the assembly are welcomed Mr. N. Kasturi, Karunasri Jandhyala Papayya Shastry, the singer Sri Ghantasala and Swami's bodily parents, Sri Pedda Venkamma Raju and Smt. Eshwaramma. Just seeing them arrive on the stage, Swami seemed so happy and touched! Blessed indeed are these souls for they enchant the Lord even long after leaving their mortal frame.

Pedda Venkama Raju becomes nostalgic when he narrates the incident in Bukkapatnam wherein Swami composed a song instantly on the freedom movement of Bharat (India) and about the downfall of ruthless dictator Hitler who was unknown till then to the innocent villagers of those days. Even the Britishers who were present in the congregation were stunned at child Sathya’s wisdom and knowledge.

Then Easwaramma explains how Swami exposed people’s ludicrous follies in Puttaparthi through telling compositions. Karunasri and Ghantalasala eulogise Bhagavan’s compositions and bring out the literary value in them. Prof. Kasturi sings a few poems of Bhagavan which have impressed him.

He also explains and lists out the 16 Vahinis of Bhagavan and says that Bhagavan explains the essence of the Vedas lucidly in His Discourses. He also laces His Discourses with Chinna Kathas (small stories) which has a succinct moral at the end.

A Chinna katha was enacted at this point which depicted the Truth that if one asks for God alone, everything else in the world gets conferred naturally. Karunasri feels sad at the sorry state of affairs of the world in the present time. People relish reading newspapers, but they have no time to read Bhagavan’s Discourses.

The whole drama was suffused with Swami and in Sanskrit the term for it is, "Swamimayam"! Swami had a glow of happiness on His face and everyone witnessing the drama too was impressed. At the end all the cast of the drama converged at the performing arena to seek Bhagavan’s blessings. Swami asked, "Who wrote the script?"

The scriptwriter, an alumnus of the Sathya Sai University, came forward and Swami seemed to convey His congratulations to him. He then called the boy who had acted the role of Sri Kasturi and materialized a gold chain for him. He then lovingly put it around his neck. Then came a very beautiful scene.

Swami picked up "Kasturi's" spectacles and placed them back in place over his nose bridge. Everyone rejoiced at this sweet act. He then spoke to the district president and moved down the stage to bless the children with group photos. He also had sarees and white cloth pieces distributed to them.

After this, He called the alumnus and giving him a basketful of vibhuti packets, asked him to distribute them to all of the participants. Swami also gave him safari pieces and sarees for his parents, brothers and wife. The photo of Him gifting the chain was presented to Swami and Bhagavan with a lovely smile presented the same to "Kasturi" who was delighted at this gift.

Even as all these went on, the devotees from the district kept singing devotional songs which had been composed for Swami. Bhagavan presented the two girl singers also with sarees. He called the alumnus and asked him to ensure that everyone had received clothes and vibhuti and soon got the confirmation. Blessing everyone, Swami retired for the day after receiving aarthi at about 7:20 p.m.
