July 9, 2010 – Drama on Khwaja Moinuddin Chisty by Rajasthan Devotees
After the successful performance of the drama on Maharana Pratap, the devotees from Rajasthan were in for a double treat as Swami permitted them to put up the other drama that they had come prepared with. Swami arrived in the evening at about 5:45 p.m. As soon as He came out, He threw a vibhuti packet to a child seated very near the entrance.
The little one walked to the packet and picking it up returned to the arms of her joyous mother. Swami smiled at this whole episode. That repeated when He threw packets to another couple of kids. Now, He moved towards the centre of the hall where a backdrop of the tomb-shrine of the Sufi mystic, Khwaja Moinuddin Chisty had been erected.
He smiled at all the children who had been dressed up with Muslim caps and flowing gowns. He accepted letters from a few of them and then completed the darshan rounds before coming onto the stage.
At 6:10 p.m., Swami asked for the organisers to begin the programme. A summary of the drama to be presented was given to Him and again like the previous day, it was in Telugu. Swami began to read through it. Soon, two boys came forward with roses and another copy of the same summary sheet. As Swami accepted it, He smiled and said, “This is the same as what was given before!”
There were smiles among those nearby. The drama began as a conversation between passengers in a train. One of them is just returning from seeing the enshrined tomb of the Khwaja while another is on his way to Puttaparthi. As part of their conversation, the story of the “Garib Nawaz” was narrated.
As a child, Hasan was compassionate and god-loving. Losing his parents at the age of 15, he was blessed by Ibrahim Qanduzi who granted him the purpose of life by just feeding a piece of oil cake that he had previously eaten. In his quest for knowledge, he was trained for twenty years under Khwaja Usman Harooni who then directed him to India to help people there.
Like every Master, he faced false accusations and there were people jealous of him. But again, like every enlightened soul, he forgave all and everyone benefited from His presence. Even this day, his shrine, popularly known as “Dargah Sharif”, has been attracting millions of people from all walks of life and faith, all over the world, irrespective of caste, creed and belief.
The presentation did not have many songs, but the message was loud and clear. It sought to provide the meaning of the dictum, “Brotherhood of man and fatherhood of God.”
For quite some portion of the drama, Swami read letters. But every now and then, His eyes would turn to the drama and then be almost transfixed. There were lighter moments too, for instance when the train began to “move”, there was a whistle and the rumbling on the tracks. Swami smiled at this and seemed to be impressed of sorts at the sound.
He kept smiling at the students in the front on a few occasions. At the end of the drama, Swami granted His abhayahastha. He blessed clothes to be distributed to all the participants. The state president moved to Swami and requested, “Swami, please give a photograph!” Swami nodded and smiled so broadly. He moved down and posed with the children for photographs.
After blessing them thus, Swami returned to the stage to receive aarthi. At the end of the session, Swami raised His hands in blessings and benediction for all. It was almost 7:30 p.m. when Swami moved into the Residence.
