February 16, 2010 – Shower of Blessings on All
Everyone in Puttaparthi was disturbed when Swami did not come out for darshan at all the whole of the previous day. And so on Feb 16, the hall was full till it seemed bursting at its seams. They say that the true value of something is discovered when it is missed.
Every heart in the Sai Kulwant Hall seemed to be beating for Him and praying. The Veda chanting began at 4:00 p.m. and concluded at 5:00 p.m. The bhajans then began and progressed for a while. Ah! The first signs of Swami's appearance and the energy levels in the hall seemed to soar!
At 5:20 p.m., Swami glided into the hall. Every neck was craning and straining. Swami too seemed very eager to bless all. He accepted letters and gave time to almost everyone who attempted to speak with Him. It was like the flood of Divinity after a drought! Just one day without darshan and the pining was so high!
It was this realization of the importance of darshan that seemed to radiate from everyone's being and Swami was just reciprocating the intense pining. He took a complete darshan round and then had two rounds of interviews.
It was such a beautiful sight as He came onto the stage. The bhajan that was on at that time was "Bolo Narayana Jai Jai Vitthala". Swami too was singing along so sweetly. He sang the line, "Sai Narayana Ranga Ranga Vitthala". And then, it looked like He realized He was singing. He beamed a sweet, cute smile and then stopped the singing. He read a few letters that He had in His hand.
Then, all of a sudden, waving His right hand, He created vibhuti. He told the student on His side, "Let’s go there. That person needs this," and moving to his left, gifted the vibhuti to a deserving recipient. He returned and sat for bhajans. As a bhajan was ending, He saw the birthday boy showing the tray and He said, "Aye, I blessed you as I came along." With a sheepish smile, the boy put the tray down and Swami asked for aarthi.
Even as the aarthi began, Swami called the boy and blessed him. He blessed the person who gave the rose and then, called the other birthday boys too! It was so amazing; the Lord just wanted to shower His love and literally the akshata grains were showered! Once the aarthi was over, jaikar was chanted. Again, Swami sweetly joined in! He said, "Jai" along with all others and there were smiles all around.
He raised both Hands in blessings and seemed to be making up for the previous day! He also sat smiling for a few precious moments after everything and that silence was so beautiful. After this, He retired at about 6:45 p.m.
