Through the analogy of the lotus in water, Baba is teaching us that like the lotus which is always on water but there is no water on the lotus, man must live in this world but not let the world get into him. In more practical terms, it means while one must live in this world and perform his duties to the family and society, he should not get too attached and possessive. One must have a spirit of detachment towards the world and attachment to God.
