From Independence to Swarajya
Drama presented by Bhagawan's students on August 15 2004
Bhagawan's love for this land, that He fondly refers to as Bharath is no secret. In many a discourses He has emphasised the values and ideals Bharath and Bharathiyas have always stood for. And this love for the motherland, He tirelessly sowed in the hearts of the youth of this country.
Speaking of the glorious past of India, Swami often recollected the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters of pre-independence India. While speaking to His students, Baba has narrated in detail the lives of great leaders such as Subhash Chandra Bose, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Mahathma Gandhi and many others. But Bhagawan has also insisted that every virtue and value must be sublimated to the supreme plane, leading to the individual realising one's true nature. And so is the case with patriotism too.
The video of the drama we present here, succinctly captures this message of our dear Lord. This drama entitled, 'From Independence to Swarajya' was presented in the Divine Presence by the students of the Prasanthi Nilayam campus of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning.
Today, on the occasion of the 66th Independence Day of India, we present to you this drama, to ruminate over its profound message of love for one's country, as well as Swaarajya (rule by the Self) as the latter Baba insists is more important than mere political freedom.
