An unexpected messenger (Hanuman’s visit)
“Baba will bless you”. These were the last words uttered by Swami before He ordered me to follow Him out of the small room where I had a very touching one-to-one interview. I quickly wiped off the last tears which my fragile soul shed in front of His overwhelming love and raised the red curtain to take back my place in the semicircle in front of Swami’s chair. I was actually the last one that got a personal interview of the small gathering present this morning in Swami’s Brindavan residence.
After Baba had distributed small packets of vibhuti to everybody present in the room, the first devotees left His mansion. Looking at my small packets of vibhuti, I was standing there in front of Swami, not really knowing what to do next. After all, He told me that He will bless me. So I looked at Him to know whether I should stay or leave. He raised His eyes, smiled and gave me a gentle sign to go.
The moment I left His residence, a waterfall of tears erupted from the depth of my soul. All the waves of that cruel and ruthless ocean of life in whose waters I almost drowned, started flooding out of my eyes.
Crossing the gate that separates Swami’s residence and the rest of the ashram, I faced a big crowd of people seemingly waiting for some special event. With the only thought in mind of avoiding this gathering, I went straight on to my accommodation on the first floor where I could release my emotions without inquisitive looks.
Time passed and it seemed to be an endless flow of tears, when suddenly I heard a noise coming from the window. A monkey had jumped at the window, hanging with its small paws on the bars. The same kind of monkey as those I used to observe walking under the roof structure of the Sai Ramesh Hall while waiting for Swami’s darshan.
Surprised and confused, my first thought was to chase it away. Once they enter a room, they can, depending on their unpredictable mood, quite easily transform it into a real battlefield. While I stood up and walked towards the window, I noticed that it hold something in its hand. Immediately I changed reaction and looked at the monkey to know what this all was about. Our eyes crossed for a short second before it jumped away and disappeared out of my sight.
I gave a look at the packet that my unexpected messenger had brought and took it in my hands. All of a sudden, I felt so blissful and a big laughter followed my tears. So this was Swami’s blessings while I checked the packet that contained vibhuti.
After slowly recovering from my emotions, I decided to go out and see what was going on there. All the accommodations were indeed empty. Once out of the building, I looked towards Swami’s residence. I could barely see a small orange dot for a split of a second before it disappeared behind Swami’s residence gate. A devotee came towards me and said “You’ve missed it all. Swami just blessed all the Seva Dals serving in the ashram.”
This event happened on Saturday morning, the 24th of May 1997 in Sai’s Brindavan Ashram, Whitefields and is as true as Swami’s divine avatarhood.
