ANSWER:
Pay attention to the word Karmaphala Tyagam. It means
sacrificing the fruit of your action; it means working without
aspiring for any reward and just for the pleasure
of working alone. You are a doctor. You work in a hospital.
You get paid for that? Good! No problem about receiving a
salary. Just do your work concentrating on curing the patient
and saving the life of the patient when there is an emergency.
Do so without any other thought, especially the remuneration
you would get, the fame you may achieve because you have treated
a complicated case, or even the thanks of the patient. Work
towards the goal that the patient must get well and that you
must see a happy smile on his/her face. That is all. The
fact that you are paid a salary does not matter.
What really matters is that your mind should
not be on it. If your mind is on service and not on money,
then, even though you receive a salary, your work falls into
the category of Niskaama Karma. Remember this. This
is a very important point.
