There is an important point here. When
people are looking for success [whatever be its nature],
they are basically looking for happiness. They want to
experience happiness through success, achievement, or
whatever. All these and the accompanying happiness are
sought in the external world. Since the
world is transient, it is inevitable that anything that
it has to offer is also ephemeral. In other words, worldly
joy will always be short-lived; no escape
from that. Hence, it is prudent not to look for something
that is short-lived. In particular, if one is looking
for pleasure, then one had better be ready to face pain
also some day, sooner or later.

But is there not something wrong about
all this? What is the meaning of saying one should not
seek happiness? What then is one supposed to do? Try to
be sad? No, it is not like that! Swami says and this is
also what Krishna told Arjuna, “Son, nobody is asking
you to be sad. Only, you should seek true Bliss instead
of worldly joy and pleasure”.
